# What tickside is

> The execution layer for prediction markets. Both sides of the book on one price column, with the way out one click away.

You already have somewhere to bet. What you do not have is a place to **trade**.

tickside is the desk. Every price the market is showing, on one column. Your own
orders resting on the same rungs as everyone else's. One click to get out. It is
built for the person who wants to move in and out of a position while the game
is still running, not for the person who places one bet and waits.

## Any market with a price

Sport is where most people start, but the desk does not care what the question
is. If the venue lists it, you can trade it.

## What makes it a desk and not a betting slip

<Steps>
  <Step title="You see the whole book">
    Not a headline price. Every rung with money on it, on both sides, at the
    venue's own tick.
  </Step>

  <Step title="You can rest an order">
    Ask for a price the market is not offering yet and wait for it to come to
    you. That is how you get filled at a better number, and it costs no fee.
  </Step>

  <Step title="You can get out">
    One click flattens a position through the book. The P\&L column tells you
    what closing at each price would lock in before you press anything.
  </Step>

  <Step title="You keep your own money">
    We never hold funds. Balances sit at the venue, in your account, the whole
    time.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Note>
  Want to try it with nothing at risk first? [Paper trading](/essentials/paper)
  gives you a simulated \$1,000 on the real live book.
