# P&L: net vs gross

> Why our number and the venue's site disagree, and which one is your cash.

## The ladder and history show NET P\&L

That is your real cash. Every taker entry's fee is folded into the cost basis,
and every exit fee comes off the proceeds, using the fee the venue **actually
charged** on that fill where it reports one, and the official formula until it
does.

## The venue's own site shows GROSS

It does not subtract the taker fee it charged you.

So after fee-paying trades, the site's number is **higher than your cash result
by exactly those fees**. Neither figure is wrong; they answer different
questions, and only one of them is what landed in your wallet.

## When they agree

On markets with fees disabled, which is most of them today, the two are
identical and the breakdown stays out of the way.
