# Finding markets

> A board of game cards with the price already on them.

**Markets is a board of game cards.** Each card carries the crests, the
competition and the kick-off time, or the minute and the score once it is live,
and both sides of the book, so you read the price without opening anything.

## What is on the board

The picker is labelled by sport, but what it really holds is **categories**, and
three of them are not sport at all. They sit under their own heading so a list
reading "Tennis, Politics, Golf" cannot happen.

<Note>
  The picker only offers what is actually on the slate right now, so the list
  moves with the schedule. A category with nothing running does not appear.

All of it trades on the same ladder. A presidential election and a corner count
are the same two sided book with the same two buttons.

**Settings, Sports** hides any category for good. That is worth knowing if the
world markets are not your thing, or if they are: they routinely carry more
resting depth than every sport put together.

## Getting to a market

    Press <kbd>/</kbd> and type a team, a player or an event. Beside the search
    sit the views (All markets, Favourites, Live, Today, Liquidity,
    Competitions, Positions, Traded, Ended), the sport picker, and a funnel with
    the finer filters: matches against futures, and floors for liquidity, volume
    and spread.

  <Step title="Open the game">
    Click a card and every market of that fixture appears, grouped by type:
    Match Odds first, then Over/Unders in numeric line order, then the rest.

  <Step title="Open a ladder">
    One click on a market opens it. A two-runner market never asks which side,
    because one ladder is both sides of it.

  A market you already have open shows a check, and clicking it jumps to that
  window rather than opening a second copy of the same book.

## Things that stay put

The **star** on a card favourites the whole game, and the Favourites view
collects them.

Your view, sport, sort order and the funnel's floors **survive refreshes and
future visits**. The board you left is the board you come back to.
